When a fire-risk assessment is no longer enough

A risk assessment records findings. Assurance requires ownership, action, testing and evidence.

A fire-risk assessment is a starting point, not the complete management system. It records significant findings, but safety depends on whether actions are owned, completed and verified.

Meaningful assurance also requires current emergency arrangements, suitable maintenance and testing, competent people, reliable records and leadership oversight.

Review the assessment after significant change, new information, an incident, changes to occupancy or when there is reason to doubt its continued validity.
